I didn’t speak to Anna, she did a 30 minutes interview and was given around 10-15 minutes to sign autographs, not all people managed to get one, and I choose to stay in the sidelines ogling. But she tried to stay a bit longer even when she was told her time was up.
Most of the questions during the interview were old ones, as in do the authors know where they are going (a: they say they do), does she prefer Blue-Olivia or Red-Olivia (a: at this point she can’t choose), does she know anything about the end of season 3 (a: no, the authors don’t tell anything to the actors, but Joshua is coming back, in some form). Anna said they’ll start filming season four in 4 weeks, so we have a confirmed date.
The mediator of the interview let people in the room make questions, creating quite a problem because this panel was about presenting season three to the Italian public (the first two episodes were showed the day before in exclusive), but most if not all the people attending today had already seen all season three in English, so they started asking about the man who’s going to kill Olivia from LSD, Peter’s destiny and so on. Anna said she still knows nothing about it X-D
Anna was asked how much she was told, in the beginning, about Olivia’s background in order to build the character, and if there are things now uncovered that she wished she had known in the beginning. She answered that there are a lot of things she would have liked to know but the authors didn’t tell, that they simply told her that her acting was good and to continue that way.
She was asked how much of herself she puts in both Olivias, and she answered that she stands more or less in the middle of the two characters.
Anna was asked about her casting for the series and what is like to work with JJ Abrams, and she recounted that her first meeting with him was during the shooting of Star Trek, on the deck of the Enterprise (lucky girl!)
Someone asked Anna if she realizes how much people love her, how much famous she is within the Fringe fandom: she answered that all of the actors live this sort of double life where they simply go to work during the months of filming and live in their own bubble, and only when they come to this events they realize how much importance people give to their work and to them.
She was also asked, a bit too directly maybe, if the actors and the production of Fringe know how much of an impact fans support had on the renewal of the show. My impression was that Anna was a bit surprised that fans from outside US knew about this or were part of any fan movement, but maybe it’s really just my impression. Anyway she answered that they do know, and that the production has people monitoring the internet for fans’ reactions, opinions, theories and so on. She heartfully thanked the fans for their support.
Trivia: Anna was asked if and what she watch on tv, and she answered that she has little time to watch tv since she’s busy doing it, but she enjoys True Blood. I overheard she came here accompanied by her mother, but I don’t know if she was in the room among the other people escorting Anna. Part of the questions by fans were posed directly to Anna in English, and the interpreter had to translate back the questions in Italian for the cameras (the interview was recorded for SyFy channel). Oh, Anna was asked what it was like to do William Bell, and she answered that it was scary and that she was glad here the show will be dubbed so it won’t be her voice we’ll hear! I so do not agree, we love her voice in any form!
About Anna Torv herself: it’s already been said over and over, but she’s truly beautiful. She had practically no makeup, and she looked incredibly young and fresh and luminous. I truly think she’s prettier in person than on screen, she looks younger and more petite, but maybe that’s just the summer dress against the layers of coats she wears in the show. She was her usual simple self, all smiling and gentle.
There were a lot of people with better photo cameras and better skills at using them than me, I hope pictures and videos of good quality will start popping out very soon, even if the room were the interview was done was quite dark. There was a “purple carpet” going on in the evening, there should be more Anna pictures coming from that too.
